connecting Nokia 7250i via blueooth

I can't get the above cell phone to be recognized when I use bluetooth set up assistant. Should any cell phone with infrared connectivity be able to be recognized by the mac via bluetooth? Both phone and computer indicate they're looking for connection. Nokia support says it has no drivers for the mac (assuming one is needed for bluetooth, which I'd think isn't necessary to [at least] just get some recognition). Any advice.
