iTunes update  bad signature

iTunes 9.01 on XP SP3, suggests upgrade with quicktime bundle but download reports an invalid signature (occurs multiple times on multiple XP computers)

Download of iTunes 8.02 direct will not install, installer jsut says it has encountered an error with no furhter information

any ideas?

    Checking something before proceeding, Bill. Were you using IE 8 (for the direct download) on all those computers?

    Oh good ... one of the easier ones again ...

    We're not sure (those of us who're troubleshooting these signature/publisher messages) what the IE issue is for some folks. There's a clue that it might be something to do with subnet settings in some cases as per this thread:

    ... but we're not sure what Bloody Yeti actually did here and haven't been able to replicate it.
