Charging iphone overnight

Hi guys,

I'm currently owning a iphone 3gs 16gb for about over a month. Everytime i charge my phone, i will charge it overnight and it's roughly about 8 hours. Will that sort of exhaust the battery or damage the battery in the long run? Having some problems faced.

First, when i on my phone, the battery was flat even though it was at 70% before i offed it. Got it back running after a charge

Next, when i was making a call, the battery percentage drops from 70 to 28.

What am i to do?

Charging overnight will not harm the battery; it has an intelligent charge circuit. Your problem is not related to this. First try recalibrating the battery gauge. Run the battery all the way down until the phone shuts off and won't restart, then charge for 4 hours. If you still have the problem after doing this take the phone to an Apple store; you may have a bad battery.

yeah i've experienced the exact same thing! though it started when i upgraded to 3.1.2! my phone easily drains up in about 6-7 hours just by listening to the ipod! and just like you said, the battery procentage can drop from 60% to 20% in a sec! very annoying! seems like its a software problem or something..

or what do you guys think?
