Images appear in iPhone Mail but not Mac Mail??

Hello,
I just noticed that when I get Flickr updates (emailed to me advising of activities on my photos) when I view the mail message on the iPhone, I see a thumbnail of the images. However, when I view in Mail on my Mac (SL 10.6.1; Mail 4.1) they are not present.

I've checked/unchecked the preference in Mac Mail to "Display Remote Images..." but that has no effect. In fact, the Load Images button does not appear on those emails (it does on some others and has the desired effect).

Anyone have any ideas why and how to resolve?
Thanks
Tony.

Same issue here with Mail.

Photo attachments (.jpg) in the body of an email will sometimes appear as just an outline of the image with a blue question mark in the middle. If I use QuickLook within the Mail program I can see them, and if I save them to my hard drive I can see their thumbnails and view them with QuickLook. It is only in the body of the email that they are not visible.

This happens with about 1/4 of the emails I get.

Same behaviour on both my newish MacBook Pro using Mail 3.6 on Leopard as well as my old iMac G4 running Mail 2.1.3 on Tiger.

Any ideas?
