LG Monitor

Hi everyone.

I'm planing to buy new Mac Mini. I saw somewhere that my old monitor will work with Mini. I have LG L1718s monitor. Will it work on my new Mini? Do I need to buy some converter or something?
I don't know much about hardware. VGA, DVI, ABC... That means nothing to me. If anyone could help me, I would be very grateful.

One more thing. I have Canon Pixma iP 1500 printer. Will that work?

Thanx.

Yes. The mini comes with an Apple Mini DVI to DVI Adapter. Mac mini lets you connect up to two displays, including your TV, with the mini-DVI port and Mini DisplayPort. Here’s some info on display ports. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5ZE4Yb148sY/SpYp60ypWeI/AAAAAAAAACI/H9frB7h8qr0/s320/M INIDISPLAY+PORT+TO+DVI+ADAPTERDETAILS.jpg

Your printer will also work. If you don’t have the cd that came with the printer you can download the driver from the Canon website.

There may be a problem with "HDCP compliance" on the monitor, IF you want to play high definition video (720/1080p etc.).

The video out on the new minis uses an encryption thing called HDCP that scrambles the digital signal for HD content; your monitor needs to have HDCP capability to unscramble it at the other end.

Looking quickly online, it looks like the L1718s may not have this, so as far as I know it may not be able to display HD content. Other stuff, like DVDs, would still play OK.
