This is a change of behaviour from leopard. In the past if I right clicked on a image in Safari and chose "copy image" and pasted into my plain text mail pane the image would show up. Now I get the URL. It may sound trivial but this is a workflow I use everyday. Every work around is a real pain in the neck.

Do anybody know how to change this back?

safari gives you two options in the right click menu. copy image and copy image address. you need to choose the former. then it pastes the image. no change from leopard here.

I have the same exact problem.

right click on an image, select "copy image" produces the same results as if I were selecting "copy image address".

    Dragging works.

Oooh, very interesting. I thought I should take it a bit further than I did so I set my default format to plain text and dragged to the mail icon. It created the new email, but pasted in the text, not the image. However, dragging the same image to the same new message, it puts the picture in.
