word art on microsoft

So I am a little confused on your statement...

So you see the option but it's grayed out? Or it just wont open a text box when you select a style?

To clarify here is how you use Word Art. Two ways of performing this task.

1. Select insert --> picture --> Word Art from the tool bar.

2. Open the Art tool box from the tool bar then select Word Art.

In either case you'll be given a window in which you can choose the style Word Art you desire. Select the style then you'll get a window that gives you the option to select font and size and type the text you want. Press OK then it'll create and place a picture of your new word art into the document.

Is it possible that the option did not get installed, it works like a champ on mine. I attempted a few scenarios that may cause the option to be grayed out but to no success. But my apologize mine is 04' I believe.

If your Office 2008 Install disc shows additional extras that can be added
(such as Office X and Office 2001:Mac (OS9) had in their installers) you
may be able to look into that disc and if those are present, install them to
add the extra packages of resources to the presently installed Office.

Sometimes an easy install will not add a ton of extras; seems to me, in
the earlier versions of Office for Mac, the extras folder was rather large.
In computers with small hard disk drives and other priorities, users had
often waited to see if the extras were really important enough before
adding them. There can be a lot of bloat if installed extras go unneeded.

{Perhaps the home and student version has fewer options included than
the versions prior to 2008. Mine are older & had a separate extras folder.}
