After a trouble free 3.0, I'm almost a little reluctant to tempt fate by going to 3.0.1 😉

Hopefully it has a couple more fixes than just disappearing content since it seemed to me that those whose content disappeared after 3.0 only had it happen once after the upgrade and may well have been OK now anyway. Still it stops any others upgrading to 3.0 that haven't done so already.

Upgrading now.

I have never had a problem until Nov. 6, 2009 at 4:12pm (original, 1st gen TV)
besides remote selections, linking with my iMac . . .

seems something at the "mothership" went off and all these problems arose. . .

as the email said, "Dear Customer . . ."

since I'm a valued customer, they better have "fixed" the issues, otherwise I cannot do any purchases with iTunes, hence the "you should immediately update" message of urgency . . .

Here's the whole text. I like the part about data "temporarily" disappearing...

Dear Customer,

If you've installed the Apple TV 3.0 software update, you should immediately update to version 3.0.1. This prevents content from temporarily disappearing until it is resynced.

To update your Apple TV software:

1. Reboot your Apple TV (unplug the power cord and plug it back in)
2. Select Settings > General from the main menu
3. Select Update Software
4. Select Download and Install

Note: Your Apple TV will conduct a restart, which is followed by the Apple logo and a status bar.

I just installed 3.01 directly from my Apple TV. I had experienced the content loss and had previously reset and then resynced to get it all back. The problem was first noticed when all the internet radio station listings went blank, followed by the loss of the other content.

I like the update, particularly the radio streaming. I also noted that some of my radio stations I added to my iTunes playlists work on the Apple TV, including some of the air traffic control feeds and CBC Radio 1 Streaming.

I love it, but of course, I'm a total Mac freak.

I did the install twice, and at the end got the Apple TV with a ? sign and had to reboot and am right back to 3.0 not 3.0.1. Just my 2 cents.

Did you bother to follow the instructions and pull the power cable before doing the install

Also Apple rarely does things like this on the weekends especially at night.

Dedication 🙂,
besides it wasn't night in cupertino.

Updated my ATV from v2.4 to v3.0 a couple of daya ago. I had no problems with 2.4 (except that dizzing horizontal flip of the album covers) but with version 3.0 I got a serious one. While playing music ATV made gaps every now and then during songs. Tonight I was ready to factory restore and by chance I found out that there is a new update available. The last 40 minutes with the new update ATV works fine, but with Apple no one knows...

3.0 was working fine here, but the 3.0.1 update has broken everything. In the middle of watching a movie I was taken back to the menu, and told that there was no content on my AppleTV. Nothing has changed with my computer or networking situation. Making matters worse, iTunes no longer sees my AppleTV. I've tried rebooting everything, and doing a factory reset on the AppleTV, but iTunes just won't see the AppleTV anymore. Apple, please fix this.
