Control Volume Remotely?

If you're running ARD 2.x (it helps if you say), send this command using the Send Unix Command:

osascript -e 'set volume x'

where the "x" is the desired volume from 0 (off) to 7 (maximum)

where might one learn more about the send unix command ect..
I'm interested in it and would like to learn more about it, but it is obviously so complex it looks almost like a different language.

Is there like some book or website that shows commands in easy to understand format and then translates them into the unix command?

The commands aren't specific to ARD so any good book on UNIX, particularly one oriented to Mac OS X, would be useful. The more you know about UNIX as it applies to Mac OS X, the more you can accomplish in maintaining and controlling Mac OS X, whether via ARD or at the computer itself O'Reilly's Learning Unix for Mac OS X Tiger would probably be a good place to start.
