Control Volume Remotely?

Is there anyway to lower the volume of a workstation using apple remote desktop?

The commands aren't specific to ARD so any good book on UNIX, particularly one oriented to Mac OS X, would be useful. The more you know about UNIX as it applies to Mac OS X, the more you can accomplish in maintaining and controlling Mac OS X, whether via ARD or at the computer itself O'Reilly's Learning Unix for Mac OS X Tiger would probably be a good place to start.
