No ARD without a Screen Plugged In

Hello,

I have a Charcole G4 with OS X Server 10.2.8 and ARD 2.2.

If I do not have a screen plugged in while it boots up I cannot get on with ARD. It is fine when there is a screen even if I remove the screen after it has booted.

I get this message when trying to connect:

"Connection lost to "servername"
Trying to reconnect..."

I have a few computers that I look after without Screens and would like to do this without having to plug a screen in.

Does anyone have any ideas of how I can fix this?

I dealt with this issue a couple years ago on 2 xServes running 10.2.8. We brought it up to our Apple rep, who sent it to engineering and they were no help at all.

I started a thread here about the issue and others had seen it, yet had no solution. We finally just said the **** with it, and upgraded to 10.3 server.

Hello Templeton Peck,

It is very funny this. I just plugged in one of those VGA converters and now it works fine!! At first it was set to a low resolution but I changed it whilst using ARD and to my surprise the settings stuck after another reboot.

I guess your xserves didn't even have graphics cards anyway?
