Can I use GarageBand to make DVD soundtrack or something else?

I am attempting to use GB to make a soundtrack using my iTunes library. I need cross fades, narration mike input and the like.

Am I on the right track using GB? Or should I be using something else entirely.

GB is a perfect tool to achieve this. Just pull the songs over from iTunes and edit them in GB. Mind that you can not drag DRM protected songs from the iTunes store into GB.

Well, of course, the protected files are the ones I'd like to use. Since this is not for any commercial use, is there any way around this restriction?

Well, if you know that you can burn all iTunes songs to a CD, and a CD carries no DRM protection ...
