is there a way to make widgets not to float above all windows?

I just want them on the desktop, not above all the open windows? What am I missing?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.1), widgets

are you talking about dashboard? you can't use any other apps while the dashboard is active. or are you talking about the trick of putting a widget on the desktop by activating the debug menu? or are you talking about something else?

Sorry, I should have clairfied.
Yes, I used the debug trick to put Widgets on the Desktop from the Dashboard. But I want the Widgets to NOT cover the open window. Example: I have the Clock widget on the dashboard, I open iMovie and the Clock is still in the corner, even though iMovie is fully expanded.
Am I making sense?
