opening raster file failed (brother mfc-6490cw printer)

opening raster file failed (brother mfc-6490cw printer)

I send docs to print on my brother mfc-6490cw printer and get the error message "opening raster file failed". I select resume and get "Operation Could not be completed."
Can someone help me fix this?

PowerPC G5, Mac OS X (10.5.8), memory 1GB DDR SDRAM

mac preview, trying to print pdf files which I have done in the past but recently upgraded the brother printer driver.

Hi,

Same problem I hat with Epson printer after I updated the driver.

Insert the install disc of the Brother printer and de-install it.

Now install the printer again without connected to the computer, PULL OUT the USB cable.

Thanks for the help. There is no uninstall option on the install CD. It took me a couple of attempts to manually deinstall as I had to locate all the Brother files, bin them and reinstall before I got the printer working again. I emailed Brother & a tech. rep. called me. He said I should wait until new printer driver updates are released via Apple as they will have ironed out the bugs.

I had the same problem, but for a Brother MFC-9420CN. I deleted the printer that used the apple auto-selected driver and chose a different driver. The auto select driver was the Brother MFC-9420CN CUPS v1.1 - that one gave me the error. When I set it up using the Brother MFC-9420CN BR-Script3 driver, that one worked fine. Hope that helps someone.
