Suddenly -- If I go more than one folder deep in a nested folder I can not go back. I must close the entire stack of folders and start over. What happened to the little arrow that allowed going back and forth thru the stack?
this is in list view, right? first, log out/in. if that does not help try resetting your finder preferences. delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plist, control-option-click on Finder in the dock and choose "relaunch". try it now.
Not in list view but either way is same. log out/in didn't help.
homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.finder.plist. I find no such file.
Looking in Library I can find 'preferences/com.apple' (but no 'finder.plist')
I found I can maneuver with the keystroke command/up arrow but I prefer the mouse.
you must be looking in the wrong library. home directory is your home folder. click on the house icon in the sidebar of any finder window and you'll be there. the library that you need is inside and com.apple.finder.plist is there too.
