HITACHI DVDCAM DZ-MV550A in iMovie 09?

I have a HITACHI DVDCAM DZ-MV550A and would like to import the video into iMovie. It came with software but it is for PC. I tryed it on 2 different PCs (Vista and XP) It won't work. Does anyone know why. And can I import it into iMovie 09 or iMovie HD/06.

MacBook White, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

I solved it in a way:

Hi, I had the same problem. I did one of two things: With an external burner, I put my Mini DVD in and dragged it to my desktop, and then burned it on a regular size DVD using Toast (just burn the regular Video_TS file). The other thing I did was download for free MPeg Streamclip 1.5 and that converts your Video_TS file from your desktop Icon to either DV or QT or pretty much anything you want. Personally, export to DV takes about 30 mins and shooting that into Imovie can take 1.5 hours, but hey, you can make an Idvd with it. Hope this helps. PM me if you need more help.

It looks like it will work but is there another way? Maby easier?
