I was thinking of upgrading the RAM in my MBP 13" to 4 gigs. Since I have to replace both dimms, I was wondering if the MBP supported PC3-10666, or is PC3-8500 the highest it can support?
Often people find that faster RAM than the original will work in Macs as long as it is "steppable", so that it can slow down to the correct speed for the bus. I've seen a few reports of 10666 notebook RAM NOT working in MBPs though.
Even if it does work, of course, you gain absolutely no speed advantage in using it, as the bus speed of 1066Mhz remains the same.
I'd stick with PC3-8500 So-DIMMs myself, unless you are have absolute confirmation that the particular brand and model of the "faster" RAM you are considering has been demonstrated to work in MBPs.
