Apple Wireless Keyboard Eating Batteries

I have a year old wireless apple keyboard (the small aluminum one) and lately it has been eating batteries.
This did not happen before I installed snow leopard however that might not be the cause.

Is anyone else having these problems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Persol

Finally bought the new wired keyboard and plugged that in. Got new Sanyo rechargeable batteries for the magic mouse. With use of two or three hours a day the batteries have dropped from 93% on this past Wednesday to 70% right now (Friday). Am not sure if that is good, bad or par for the course, but will be keeping track as I proceed. The mouse is amazing, the wired keyboard I am used to. Just wanted to report this. Thanks for reading.

OK, called apple and talked to 4 different support and tech support people. All of them said they had never heard of the problem!

I was told the only solution is for me to take the keyboard to an apple store for replacement. It doesn't matter if it's over 100 miles each way, that is all will do for me. I can't afford to take the time off just for a keyboard but that attitude did remind me of how much I hate dealing with their customer support!

Since it's too far to drive I guess I get to toss the keyboard and consider the money my donation to the apple executive coffee fund!

Yes, I am not a happy camper....

I understand your frustration. From what I have seen, Apple's customer support and Apple Tech don't necessarily communicate. If Apple is aware of the problem (and they must be aware by now), customer service may not. I have gone back to my Logitech USB mouse as I had no problems until the Magic Mouse came along. And you know what? The Logictech mouse is much better than the Magic Mouse! Apple has yet to make a mouse that is truly a better mouse. Even when this problem is fixed, I don't think that I will go back to the MM. I love the keyboard; I can live without the MM.

I've started keeping track and the wireless kybrd is going to through 2 brand new triple A's a week. EVERY WEEK! It's crazy. Rechargeables are worse. Maybe I need a different rechargeable but I have a few varieties - all considered good quality - and they don't last long at all. The Magic Mouse is not much better. Maybe 2-3 weeks. Never had these issues before. Seems it may have come with the updated MM driver.

What's the point of replacing the keyboard or the Magic Mouse to repeat the problem? Has anyone replaced either item and seen the problem go away?
