Can I block bittorrent traffic on my network?

Hi. I manage a small Mac network with a Sonicwall TZ 170 firewall. Our bandwidth is seriously compromised by bittorrent traffic. Can I block BT traffic or at least limit it's bandwidth?
Thanks

Mac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

I have the same firewall. Create a custom service for TCP ports 6881-6999, and deny all traffic to and from the WAN.

You can also add the service and ALLOW it, then add bandwidth setting...

The way we are set up is that all traffic is blocked, then just the necessary ones are open - HTTP, SMTP, POP, FTP, DNS, PING, etc... Then all unwanted traffic would be blocked by default...

ACTUALLY you should setup your firewall to BLOCK ALL ports except the ones you need, for 2 reasons.

1. stops users running unauthorised programs, such as bit torrent, so they wont be able to change the ports used when they figure out its being blocked.
2. stops hacks/virii and other unwanteds', secures your network, reduces problems considerable if your firewall is setup properly.
