Driver for Canon CLC 2620 with Colour Network Printer Unit C1 V.2.1

Unfortunately the printer is unusable after a Snow Leopard Update.

The Problem seems to be the connected "Colour Network Printer Unit C1 V.2.1" which runs Fiery System 5.5 software.

All print jobs will be ignored - no matter what configuration.

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.1), Active Directory intergration

Hi there. I am not sure what you mean by the Snow Leopard update. Do you mean you had the printer working on 10.6.0 and since installing 10.6.1 or 10.6.2 you are now unable to print? Or do you mean you had the printer working on 10.5 and since you have upgraded to 10.6 the printer is not working?

With the imagePASS-C1 you should at the very least be able to configure a network print queue to use Generic PostScript for the driver. This will get you printing but will not support any finishing function or let you use A3. When you do create this generic queue, if you use LPD for the protocol you need to ensure you have a queue name of print and it must be entered in lower case letters.

However I believe you do not need to use Generic PS. The Universal Binary drivers for the imagePASS print controllers are able to be installed and used. They require Rosetta for the installation and have some issues with working with the 64bit apps on 10.6, but most of the issues have workarounds allowing you to print.

If you can confirm the problem you are having in more detail then I can offer some better advice.

You are right - working with 10.5.x and broken since 10.6.x

I am really confused with the naming and different drivers for our printer. I thought the imagePASS-C1 with the Fiery RIP installed does require different drivers.

We did successfully use the following: http://de.software.canon-europe.com/products/0010155.asp

I will try the Generic Postscript connection again. Although this is no real option, because A3 output is crucial for presentations...

BTW We are able to print via a shared Printer on 10.5.x

In Europe, Canon has called their imageRUNNER copiers CLC when an imagePASS (Fiery) is fitted. The idea is good from a support perspective, as when this name is mentioned you know that it has a Fiery.

Looking at the contents of the link you provided there does seem to be a mixture of Canon board drivers and software and imagePASS-C1. The PS v2.11 driver for Intel Mac's is probably the driver you require, I will need to download it to confirm. But if this is the Fiery C1 driver, then it will install providing you have Rosetta installed on the Mac and it will let you print from 32 bit apps, which most 3rd party design apps are still running.

Okay, I downloaded the PS v2.11 driver for Intel Mac's and found this driver is for the Canon board, not the imagePASS-C1. The driver for the C1 is listed as "22. PS Printer driver for MacOSX (v2.1). However, after downloading it I find that this is not the Universal Binary version but the old PPC version, which is not ideal for Snow Leopard. So, if you don't mind using an English version of driver, I suggest you download the UB version from here.

I checked that it installs correctly on 10.6.2 and prints okay (albeit to our iRC5185 with imagePASS-H1).

Unfortunately the installer hangs on item 17 - not only on my machine, but also other ones in my office.

Hmmm - the provided EFNC9E23 (FJN) is dated with 7. September 2006.

There is a log file and perl script on the root level of my mac left behind:
- Installation Log (Harmony install successful)
- ConstraintNuke.command

Hi Thomas,

I know that the VISE Installer does pause for a long time when installing the Harmony frameworks, especially if a previous driver or Fiery utility was installed on the Mac.

You could look at the installation log file to see the files and associated locations for the driver and possibly manually remove them. There is also a Print Driver Removal tool that can remove the driver, plugins and harmony files for you. Contact your local Canon tech support to see if they can get this utility for you.
