How does it take to verify?

How long does it take to verify an iTunes Sotre account? I clicked the link on my Emai and a window came up. "ONE MOMENT PLEASE", and it says that it's connecting to the iTunes Store. It's been connecting for a good 10 minutes now. How long did it take for anybody else?
