On my older iMac I created a movie using iMovie HD 5.0.2 to make into a DVD, and then because my DVD burner on that iMac isn't working, I copied the movie file onto my new iMac. This copy seems to have been converted into a QuickTime file. It is a large file (20 GB) consisting of stills, video, and music. How can I convert this QuickTime file into an iMovie file? When I try to open it or import it into iMovie, it is 'greyed out' and cannot be selected. Any thoughts/ideas/help much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm having the same problem. From what I have read, imovie will not import large files. You need to break apart the large file into smaller pieces and then imovie should import the smaller files.
The only tool that I have found so far that will break down the quicktime file is quicktime pro, which costs 30 dollars.
There may be another tool that will do it too, but I have not found it yet.
If you were making a DVD, It probably has an extra track, such as a chapter track. You will need to delete the chapter track before you can import it into iMovie. You can do this in QuickTime Pro for one example. If you still have iMovie 5, you could also do it there.
