Coverflow and Top Sites missing!

Hi!
I have a steaming, freshly installed Safari and Graphics Card driver, and none of the shiny new features (Coveeflow, Top Sites) are to be seen. My system meets the requirement as listed on the download page, so I can't imagine why this is happening.
I have DirectX 9.0c installed. Here is a link to my laptop's specifications.

Any help appreciated, thankyou.

If I click preferences, bookmarks, top sites are not listed.

Doublechecking something sam ... do mean that if you click on the little coggy thing up at the top right (that says "Display a menu of general Safari settings" when you drift your mouse pointer over it), and select "Customise Toolbar ..." are you not seeing the Top Sites button?

Or is there no little coggy thing (or cogwheel, or whatever it's called) showing up for you?

(Sorry about the difficulties in explaining this ... but I'm having trouble with asking people "what are you not seeing?" If you could post a link to a screenshot of what the top of your Safari 4.0.4 window looks like, that would be really helpful ...)

Hey y'all
I have installed Safari 4 on 3 systems. Two of them work fine. On my HP laptop, there is no option for top sites. No button on the config. I d/l it today, 091119 and installed on the HP laptop. I then uninstalled it (top sites was missing), and then installed again from scratch. No luck. Still not there and no button to drag and drop from the config. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Missing buttons ... okay, let's try an experiment. Try the instructions I give in the following post beneath the heading *"XP instructions for Cyndy if Cyndy has also lost her wee coggy thing":*

(Thinking here that if it got back the cogwheel on an XP box, it also stands a good chance of getting back the Top Sites button.)
