iSync NOKIA 5000d-2

Starting this topic because it seems the issue of enabling iSync for the Nokia 5000d-2 has not been fully resolved for everyone (um... me, for example).

The previous FIX posted for the Nokia 5000 is here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8301445#8301445

... and I had success with it INITIALLY (ie- the very first sync!). Now, I always get the following error:

[Nokia 5000d-2] There was an error getting data from the phone. The synchronization may have been canceled on the phone.
Device “Nokia 5000d-2” synchronization failed.

The phone itself says that: "Data transfer not possible. Check data connection."

But, there is no problem with the data connection... I can connect via Bluetooth and transfer files all day and all night!

I have made the adjustment in the XML file prescribed, using "<string>Nokia+Nokia 5000d-2</string>" INSTEAD of the version for the Nokia 5000; "<string>Nokia+Nokia 5000</string>"

Ok... so lets here from the masters of disaster out there! And, in the spirit of the Mac user's community: "Shame on you Apple for not making an effort to keep iSync up-to-daye with this very very popular phone!"

Syncing is different to file transfer and uses completely different Bluetooth profiles.

You might have some corrupt data in one or more of your Contacts or Calendars. Try syncing only contacts or only calendars, then try syncing individual Address Book groups and individual calendars to narrow down where the problem is.

It's not Apple's responsibility to support Nokia's phones. Why don't you ask Nokia why they haven't released an iSync Plugin for the 5000-d, when they have for so many more of their phones?

Results are emerging: (ONLY SYNCING CONTACTS - cal is disabled)

I've been testing with a virgin group of simple contacts and observe that,

1- performing a sync with the Nokia's contacts screen visible always FAILS.

2- re-syncing a previously failed sync WORKS as long as the Nokia screen is not in contacts mode.

I still get a FAIL when trying to sync my (large) contact group. Trying to narrow this down.

Hello again after some time!
After some trouble I had finally managed to sync Mac os X 10.5 with my Nokia 5000. Unfortunately, with my brandnew Mac OS X 10.6.2, I'm back at the beginning. Nokia doesn't support its own phone and the solution that worked before doesn't seem to anymore.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance,
Sylvain Piren
