Airport Extreme Base Station

I have one PC with XP and 2 apple computers. We can't get on the internet. Our internet provider, Time Warner, says that our existing airport is obsolete which is why our internet went down. Do I purchase an airport extreme Base Station, 802.11g card? Is there anything else I should have before I purchase a unit on-line? IS this the correct product to purchase that will work with a mac and a PC?

PC, Windows XP, needs to work with 2 apple computers also

Which exact AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) do you have now that Time Warner is telling you is obsolete? (ref: Identifying AirPort hardware)

We have an Airport Base Station Dual Ethernet that was purchased in 2001 that supported both PC and Apple

Thank you for clarifying. There really shouldn't be any reason why the Extreme model would not work with the modem provided by Time Warner, but it may be possible that it is starting to fail.

If you need to support both wired and wireless clients, then you could replace the Extreme with one of the new dual-band AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBSn) ... or a similar model from another vendor.

I would concur that 8 years is a good long service life for an Airport Extreme. Don't be afraid to purchase a new one! Or you could have my Linksys W35G that I just upgraded from.
