Select it in Activity Monitor then click on the Quit icon in the toolbar, then click on Force Quit. Quit Safari and relaunch. See if that clears it up.
I tried your suggestion and when I relaunch Safari, webkit plugin host reappears; however, if I force quit WPH, and keep Safari open, everything is fine. CPU is low and fans are normal.
I also noticed that in iStat, WPH is still listed as one of the processes.
i'm also having the exact same issue - safari + flash = webkitplugin hangs - sometimes even causing my whole
system to show the SBBOD for about 30-45 sec...
my solution?
