webkit plugin host?

I noticed that "webkit plugin host" is using a lot of CPU and causing my fans to roar 5000+ RPMs.

What is this and how can I update?

13" Macbook 2.4 Aluminum Unibody 2008, Mac OS X (10.6.2), 4GB ram

Select it in Activity Monitor then click on the Quit icon in the toolbar, then click on Force Quit. Quit Safari and relaunch. See if that clears it up.

I tried your suggestion and when I relaunch Safari, webkit plugin host reappears; however, if I force quit WPH, and keep Safari open, everything is fine. CPU is low and fans are normal.

I also noticed that in iStat, WPH is still listed as one of the processes.

I did a repair permissions, since I never did one after upgrading to 10.6.2, and it found many problems in Safari.

The problem seems to be fixed. Will post if I find anything else later.

i'm also having the exact same issue - safari + flash = webkitplugin hangs - sometimes even causing my whole system to show the SBBOD for about 30-45 sec...
my solution?

GOOGLE CHROME.

i'll be using it until Apple fixes this.
