The "spinning circle" loading icon won't go away when I open mail up

I'm having some issues with my mail accounts. Whenever I open up my mail, the circle won't stop spinning like it used to once the mail loaded (note: I'm talking about the one in the top bar). I recently messed with some of the forwarding settings in Gmail in one of my accounts, but I've since remove it from my phone. I don't know what else could explain it. Any ideas?

Two ideas...

1) If you recently loaded new messages from a new mailbox for example it will take a while to completely load all those new messages and text and attachments etc... If you have the view set to more lines it takes longer...

2) Try removing the gmail account and then adding it back... This will also cause that loading to happen for a while depending on how many emails you have in those folders but this normally fixes email issues
