how do i create a banner (as in ms publisher) using pages?

hi. i want to create banner which is 1m long. this can be done using ms publisher by typing in the banner dimensions under page setup and it then prints it out on multiple pages which are then stuck together. the graphics capabilities on pages are far superior, however, so i would much rather do this on pages. anyone have any ideas on how to do this using pages? thanks. g

yes, there are several posts about banners and pages - i would like to be able to specify a size and print using pages instead of making a custom page size, export to pdf, open it in another programme and then print - i take it pages can't do this? i use a pc at work and making a banner on ms publisher seems to be the only thing that it does better than my mac - very frustrating because, as i say, pages can create much better looking things...

You need to create a custom sized document in page set up. This is a system feature Pages is using. Then when done with creating your banner you need something helping you to print it if you don't have a printer that can take 1 meter long banner. Tiler or Postrazor are apps that can help you with that. If you make a good template for this banner please upload it at the iworkcommunity.com
