Gaming? On a MAC???
I know, I know... Macs aren't for gaming. I get that much! But I am going to anyway! And I have some questions I hope can be answered here. That and I'm looking for conversation to keep me busy til my iMac is delivered...
From what I've heard, Boot Camp is by far the best choice for gaming. But, this is my first Mac, and I want to experience it in all it's glory. I'm tired of Windows, plain and simple. I don't want to break the immersion, I guess you could say.
Before I go any further, let me iterate that I don't need access to any Windows applications, other than the games that do not have a native Mac version.
That said, I've heard of a few choices. There's VMWare Fusion 3, and Parallels 5. But, I can't find any benchmarks for how games perform when virtualized through these. I have read that graphical glitches and other errors are common, however. Then there's this App called Crossover Games 8. I'm not sure what it's all about, but it looks like it's better suited for my purpose.
Basically, most of the games I want to play are readily supported. World of Warcraft and The Sims 3 most prominently, among others. But then there are games which I just want to play every now and then. UT99, UT3, Half Life 2 & Portal, Diablo 2, Borderlands, Torchlight, Dragon Age: Origins... the list goes on. I just don't want to have to leave the Eden that is Mac OS X to do so.
Anybody else in a situation like this?
What would you recommend?
