iPhone unlock sound

Hey guys i have just bought a Iphone 3gS 32gb. I have noticed that sometimes when i slide the phone to unlock its VERY quiet. then other times it is the normal loudness. I have tries hard rebooting the phone and restorign it. Most of the time it is the normal loudness however sometimes it is very quiet. I have checked that nothing is blockign it and it is on the loudest settign and not on silent mode.

Welcome to the discussions,
Depending on how you hold the phone in your hand while unlocking it, part of your hand may cover the speaker next to the docking port. In that case the sound will be not so loud as if you put if flat on the table and hold the upper part of the phone while you unlock it.

Ive tried it flat on a table with no cover on it, just unlocking it and it did the same again where it was quiet. Its definately not my hand covering. The speaker works fine with music ringtones etc but id say every 1 in 50 unlocks its really quiet at the unlock sound and then maybe does it a few times then goes back to normal.

I too am having this same problem and I've read a couple of threads on the forums and some postings have the 'does it matter attitude' but to me it does. My partner has an 3GS and has done doe some time, I wanted to wait for it to come out on Orange so I waited and waited to be plagued with this sound problem! Is it something I can take back to orange and asked for a replacement or not?
