Aug 4, 2010 3:26 AM in response to Nick Rawsonby stephenjgood,Many thanks Nick, all your suggestions worked for me, I think the key is to align the markers precicely on the frame divider.
I had a customer wanting to create a seamless meditation cd which Waveburner was just messing me about with as with everyone else. After aligning all the track markers and setting the tracks to "free", all 36 of them (it took a while) the now CD burns off completely seemless and I once again have a happy customer. Phew, minor disaster averted. -
Aug 18, 2010 3:50 PM in response to stephenjgoodby Jazzmeister,Hi
Found this thread after experiencing similar problems with waveburner. With me the issue is that I either:
a) burn at best speed, but then get random pops in the middle of tracks
b) burn at slow speed but then I get the short burst of audio as others do at the very end of the cd - though you can only pick this up on a cd player, not playing back on itunes, so the error is written onto the end of the cd, not into the last track.
I have tried using iTunes and Toast, but actually get the same results, so I don't think it's a waveburner specific issue for me.
I have narrowed it further down by finding that only tracks created with East West Quantum Leap Piano plug-in within logic create this issue. If I create tracks in logic without this, then they burn fine, as well as existing bought iTunes tracks.
The only work-arounds (but they are not much good) is to either (as suggested on this thread):
a) add silence (at least 7 secs) to the end of the last track (no good for my publishers)
b) add a separate track of silence at the end of the cd (also not much good)
Bizarrely, if I drag the tracks that have pops in from the cd back into logic, they play back fine with no pops, and the wave-form looks fine as well. Also the issue where there is a burst of audio at the end of the cd, if I analyse that last track in logic or play it back by itself, it's fine.
Have been in contact with apple and East West about this, but so far no solution.... -
Aug 23, 2010 2:03 PM in response to Jazzmeisterby Jazzmeister,So, changing:
SCMS to free
and unchecking CD Text and ISRC codes for the burn on the cd (Under Preferences->Burn), appears to get rid of the pop at the end of the cd for me. -

Sep 12, 2010 3:38 PM in response to John Alcockby Nick Rawson,Be careful about this Waveburner tip from Apple support:
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3435
In my experiences, it doesn't always work.
Sometimes you have to move the start time of a track marker forward or backward an extra frame in order to have it to land exactly on a frame.
For example, a track marker, on a record I worked on recently, would not line up to 35:20:57 (which was my desired start time). Even when I typed in the desired time using the inspector, the marker would not 'snap' to that exact position. I had to shift the start time to 35:20:56 (back one frame), in order to have it snap to a frame.
At 75 fps the difference is only about 13 ms, but in any case, you still have to watch out for this...
Hope this helps! -
Sep 20, 2010 5:08 AM in response to oxfordlitelyby davidadmusic,I've been aware of the 'clicks between tracks' problems with Wave Burner, but until this last week, I hadn't had cause to master an album with cross fades for a long time. So, when at the weekend I mastered an 18 cross faded track compilation, I suddenly experienced what many users have been complaining about!
To cut a long story short, you're correct, in that the cause of the clicks is where the purple track index pointer is placed in relation to the frame rate.
However, to get rid of the clicks, you do need to open the audio track image in waveburner out to its maximum resolution, ie as large as it gets, and move the purple start and end points so they snap EXACTLY to the nearest frame rate, NOT between frame rates, which is where they will be when causing clicks. I must stress that you have to open out the view to it maximum, because if you don't do that, you'll think you're moving it to the frame rate, but in fact, you won't be. eg look at the first track purple index point; it starts exactly on 00.00.00 and ends exactly on 00.02.00 (assuming a 2 second index point). All subsequent id points must be as exact as that, they cant be in between the marker points.
I know that has already been said in this topic, but I actually found this out myself at the weekend and posted it on the Logic forum, then came across this discussion.
I also found that sometimes the dammed purple marker moved again after setting it to the frame rate - bizarre! So it really does need patience and again, it must be EXACTLY on the frame rate, even if it's just the tiniest bit off the mark, you'll still get a click.
Also, If you're experiencing a 'pop' at the end of the album, then ensure that your end audio track ends on a frame rate point, and the 'pop' will be gone!
Basically, if apple ensure that any scissor cuts in audio 'click to frame rate' then the problem will be solved. Interestingly enough though, previous versions of WaveBurner didn't click to frame rate either, so why the problem is now there, I don't know.
I played around with this over the weekend, placing id points in cross faded tracks on six different albums, discovering clicks on all 6, then I did the above and 100% it solved the problem.
Hope that along with the other comments this helps users and points Apple in the right direction to issue a fix quick! -
Sep 30, 2010 1:32 AM in response to davidadmusicby rtcstudio,Waveburner 1.5.2 on Leopard 10.5.8 works seamlessly without all the zooming and frame rate hassle.
Apple probably won't fix this, they will just make you do all the jumping through hoops.
In any event, as of this date, the problem is still not fixed, but my old system drive with the old versions of Waveburner and Leopard work EVERY time, with no thought as to where your ID markers are. -
Oct 1, 2010 6:59 AM in response to rtcstudioby Nick Rawson,That would be great if I had Waveburner 1.5.2 on Leopard 10.5.8, but I don't.
I have a newer machine that came with Mac OS X 10.6 and Waveburner v1.6, so that isn't an option for me. -
Oct 20, 2010 11:01 AM in response to Nick Rawsonby Sound Spot,Ditto. I can't downgrade my system to OS 10.5.8 at this point.
I get a click/pop at every disc end that I master even after zooming all the way and snapping to a CDDA frame on edits. It ruined a number of short runs already and the reputation of my business.
I didn't want to use another software solution but I guess I'm gonna have to. Consider that this is the most viewed, most active thread in the Waveburner discussion forum and Pro App development has not been able or willing to solve this issue to this date. -
Oct 20, 2010 1:24 PM in response to Sound Spotby Miles Fender,I've had it with WaveBurner - I just don't have the patience to do another project with it. I'm demoing alternatives now. It's a shame, because I'm really happy with Logic 9 - I can't understand how WaveBurner has become such a train wreck. -
Oct 24, 2010 10:49 AM in response to Miles Fenderby espenandre,In my case absolutely none of the suggestions fixes the problem. BUT in my case I don't have the clicks burning to cd, only when bouncing cd-tracks or regions!
I've also tried with and without pause between the tracks, removing plug.ins and dethering, and applying fades to the beginnings. Also tried with just one track...! The click is often also not just a click, but actually a click-like snippet of the previous track...
