Syncing from Apple TV to itunes

Syncing from Apple TV to itunes

My computers hard drive was recently reformatted before I could get all of my files off of it. I have all of my music/video on my apple tv. If I tell it to sync to my itunes will it replace these missing files in itunes or will they be deleted from my apple tv and gone forever. If the sync only works from itunes to apple tv, how can I get those files off of the apple tv so that I can reimport them into itunes?

imac G5 non intel-based, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

you can't. the sync works one-directional from iTunes to the TV.

TV is not a backup solution and you must backup your purchases to an external HD or burn them to disc.

Thanks. I was afraid of that but I thought it was worth a shot. My logic board died while I was trying to back up my library and the backup got messed up. Of course I was overwriting my previous backup at the time.

try contacting iTunes support - under certain circumstances they may allow a re-download of your purchased content. plead your case and see what transpires.
