Airtunes + Netgear WGR614 Router

I had been using a Netgear MR814 (80211.b) with an Airport Express without any problems. In switching to the 80211.G WGR614 I'm struggling to connect the two.
If I remember right I should extend the Netgear Network to include the Airport Express. The Airport Setup Utility finds the netgear network but doesn't find the "Airport Base Station." Am I doing something wrong--or is the new router not compatible?
I'm sorry this question has probably been responded to--but I couldn't make much sense of previous answers.

You cannot "extend" the wireless network of any Netgear wireless router using an Airport Express. You can configure the Airport Express to "join" its wireless network, which will allow wireless iTunes streaming and printing.
