Mouse driver for logitech 10.3.9?

I've been searching everywhere online for an optical mouse driver for a logitech mouse (v320) that runs in OSX 10.3.9

I searched the logitech download site, and although the drivers there say they run on 10.3.9, in fact when I try to download it, the program fails to open and load... and in fact the icc310.zip driver is for 10.4.x

I even wrote to logitech and was given the following run-around,

"I understand you would like to know where can you download a software that will work on Mac OS X 10.3.9. Unfortunately, the software for Mac OS X 10.3.9 is no longer available. You can instead do your own research using Google. I apologize for this inconvenience."

After Googling numerous sites, I only find these scam software driver download sites that never connect and ask for a $14.00 signup fee!

So I am stumped as to what to do next... any clues much appreciated.

Dual MMD G4 1.25, Mac OS X (10.3.x), Wacom Intuos, Umax Powerlook III, Epson 2200 etc, etc, etc...

I'm afraid you are out in the cold. Even the shareware mouse software is only compatible with10.4 or later.

Maybe the solution is to upgrade OS X. You have a G4 model that can run either Tiger or Leopard both of which can be found via eBay and other sources you may find via Google. Just be sure you only purchase a full retail package, not loose discs with gray labels.

Actually I lucked out and found a link that still loads a 10.3.9 logitech driver.

I downloaded from here http://logitech-viva.navisite.net/web/ftp/pub/techsupport/mouse/mac/lcc260.zip.

It's amazing that this driver was so hard to find! Or maybe it's all a part of the disposable society that just tosses everything out.

This new driver seems to work with the wireless optical mouse and offers all the side scrolling capacity. It still doesn't seem to work on slightly reflective surfaces all that well... but it's better than nothing.

Logitech support really bites big time. I'll never buy a product from them if I can help it. I just got this one on ebay.

Good luck anyone looking for the same problem!

You are over-reacting. Obsolete products are typically disposed by every company. Tried to find a copy of Panther, Tiger, or Leopard lately? You can't buy them from Apple. After a given period of time old hardware moves into the unsupported realm and it's impossible to even get software recovery discs that originally came with the computers.

You are complaining because you wanted something and couldn't get it, but that's not Logitech's fault. They simply no longer support that older version of the software. One reason why you should do a better job of saving your software originals.

I know from my experience that Logitech makes the best mice in the market. I don't use their software because there is shareware software that's better, but I still have all the software discs that came with my mice. Don't blame Logitech for what is really your fault.

The thing is I bought it without any installation software. It came from ebay.

And the logitech site is misleading as it states that the mouse driver works with 10.3.9, but in fact it doesn't.

I'm glad I found the new driver though... since it does work.

I think older software should remain available for older systems, without having to go to the 'wayback' machine!

So much for buying on eBay. All the Logitech products come with their software. The seller should have provided you with the original disc.

Most all companies carry copies of older software until such time as they put the product into the unsupported/obsolete category, then it's gone. This is common. Again, your best course of action is to upgrade to Tiger or Leopard. The Logitech software currently available will work as will third-party products like SteerMouse or USB Overdrive - Download at VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Contact the SteerMouse developer about getting an older version compatible with Panther. Current versions of both are compatible with Tiger and later.
