Dear C,

Hi my name is xxx and I understand that you're having trouble signing in to
the iTunes Store with your Apple ID account "xyz@email.com" which I am
showing was changed from your AOL account login "abc@aol.comI can
certainly appreciate how eager you must be to get this matter resolved. I will
be more than happy to help.

Please try the steps below.

1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes 9.0.2. It can be
downloaded free of charge from the Apple website:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download

2) Open iTunes.

3) From the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Sign In.

4) On the dialog that appears, make sure the radio button next to the Apple logo is selected.

5) Enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click Sign In.

If you no longer have the password for your account, you can simply reset it via

Apple's iForgot website at:

http://iforgot.apple.com

If you still can't access your account, I can reset the password for you. Before

I can do this, however, Apple requires that you provide:

- the billing address listed on the account

...as well as one of the following:

- the last four digits of the credit card used for your iTunes Store account
- the order number of your most recent purchase
- or the name of any item you've purchased using this account

Upon receiving your response, Apple will verify your information, reset your
password, and send you an email with your new password.

C, if you have any other quetions in regards to this issue please feel
free to respond to this email. Thank you for contacting iTunes Store Customer
Support. Have yourself a great day.

my problem is not signing on to "xyz@email.com" its "abc@aol.com".
"abc@aol.com" is the ID i've been using to buy my music, that i now
cant play, because it automatically prompts me to sign on to
"abc@aol.com". the "xyz@email.com" will not allow me to play my
music that i purchased though "abc@aol.com" ID.

Dear C,

Hi this is xxx again. I am sorry for misunderstanding. I understand that you
are being prompted to enter you account and password in order to play your
content.

I am showing that you changed the email address on your iTunes account to xyz@email.com" The content in your iTunes library has to be reauthorized
to the new email address to regain access to the content.

The information in this article should help you resolve this:

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389

If you are still asked to authorize your computer after following the
instructions in the article above, please let me know and I will assist you
further.

I hope you find this information helpful. C, thank you for contacting
iTunes store customer support. Have yourself a great day!

no. this did not help. I've followed all the directions, heres where its
conflicting:

Authorize using the correct account name
The items you are trying to play might have been purchased using a different
iTunes Store account. To determine which account was used to purchase an item,
follow these steps:

Select a purchased song in your library and choose File > Get Info.
Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name that appears in the list. This is
the account name (Apple ID) you will need to use when authorizing your computer
to play this purchase.

The account name the appears in the list is "abc" and i need that apple id when authorizing my computer to play those purchases.

Can you just transfer all my old info (reviews, imixes, purchases and all
history, ect.) into my new account ?? Its been three days and i still cant play
my music.

EMAIL #3
Dear C,

Hi this is xxx again. I am sorry that you are still having a problem
authorizing your content.

I understand that the account name that appears in the list file is
"abc". You need to change this to the new address I provided you with
as you had changed the account information over to that email address.

C, if there are any other questions in regards to this issue please feel
free to respond to this email. Thank you for being a loyal iTunes store
customer. Have yourself a great day!

ok. what are you referring to as "this", my signon/id? and how am i changing
it? through the file?
through myinfo.apple.com, because i've already tried that,it did not work.

i know abc@aol.com needs to be changed to xyz@email.com (apple id: xyz)
from my understanding i thought EVERYTHING was changing over when i set up my
aol id to an apple
id, what else is there to do? and how do i do it?

EMAIL #4
Dear C,

Hi this is xxx again. I am sorry that I was unclear in my last email.

I have the article listed below again about repeatedly being prompted to
authorize your iTunes purchases.

iTunes repeatedly prompts to authorize computer to play iTunes Store purchases
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389

In this article there is a section titled "Authorize using the correct account
name".

In this section you are advised to Click the Summary tab. Note the Account Name
that appears in the list. This is the account name (Apple ID) you will need to
use when authorizing your computer to play this purchase.

In this case this will need to be altered because you changed the email address
associated with your iTunes account.

Double click on an unplayable item in your iTunes library.

Enter your new apple account ID "xyz@email.com" and the password.

You should now be able to listen to this content.

If you are still unable to play this content please provide me with the titles
and order numbers of the items in question.

I hope you find this information helpful. C, thank you for contacting
iTunes store customer support. Have yourself a great day!

i've tried that and mention the same step in a previous email.

I clicked on a song purchased thought the old account. it prompts:
"This computer is not authorized to play "I Try" [the name of the song] . Would
you like to authorize it?
To play this song you must authorize this computer to play songs purchased using
the account "abc"
You may authorize up to 5 computers for each account."

when i enter the current email/id "xyz" it says
"This computer is already authorized. Including this one, you have authorized
one computer of your available 5."

now i have to give you the titles and order number of ALL my music purchased
though itunes, even from years ago?

EMAIL #5
Dear C,

Hi this is xxx again.

I do want to verify one quick thing before I request all items purchased that
you are unable to play.

Are you simply entering the login as "xyz" or as "xyz@email.com"?.
Please be advised that you need to enter xyz@email.com" as the login when
trying to authorize this content.

If this is what has been done I will need the titles and order numbers of the
content you cannot authorize.

C, thank you for contacting iTunes store customer support.

Sincerely

I am having the same AOL/Apple ID issue, but the difference is, I can only play songs that I have purchased since I "updated" my apple ID info....the account I used to purchase my "old" songs is just my aol name, and the account for my "new" songs is my aol address. I hope AOL and Apple find a happy way to solve this...I have over 1,000 songs, and I am not about to individually sign in for each song. That's stupid.

i just discovered i have the same problem] when i try to listen to any music i purchased approx 2-3 yrs ago with my AOL user name. is this a recent problem due to an itunes upgrade? i actually think i havent listened to my older AOL music purchases until 2 days ago. ive tried everything including many online suggestions --- simply doesnt work!!!
truth is the past couple of years i discovered digital downloads [music] from AMAZON which r cheaper and one doesnt have to deal with all this NONSENSE of having to authorize music/computers.

I just experienced a similar problem..

I according to apple - have 3 iTunes store accounts..

xxx
xxx@me.com
xxx@aol.com

I knew the @aol.com account had been 'migrated' by apple but when I tried to authorise it gave me an error saying this account has already been converted..

bottom line.. to get this working when authorising the music I purchased using the old AOL account I need to enter

xxx@aol.com
password

...but make sure the APPLE radio button is selected NOT the AOL radio button..

once this little nuance had been expained it all worked swimmingly..

v frustrating that it's not immediately obvious.

This also worked for me. When I first switched over my AIM account (which took a week of waiting until I stopped getting error messages) iTunes was still refusing to play my music, even when I put the new account in place of my old AIM account. What I had to do was deauthorize the computer and then requthorize it. I'm not sure why this worked, but now I can play all my music no problem.

Dec 19, 2009 4:26 PM in response to cmoody07

I am having the same exact problem. I switched over to an Apple ID years ago and everything had always worked fine. Now with the purchase of my new computer I am finding that I can't play songs purchased before I made the switch.

When I attempt to play a song it asks me to authorize the AOL account. I then enter the password for that account and am prompted to update my AOL account (which I have already done). Even if I do go through the steps to update the account again I am again asked to authorize the AOL account and am back at square one.

Currently I am going back and forth with a rep. from the apple store. We'll see what happens. I'll be sure to post any answers I find to this problem

Dec 21, 2009 3:06 AM in response to andy states

Having exactly the same problem as andy states.

Everything was fine until purchased new imac a few weeks ago. Now cannot play itunes purchased with old user id. Current user id itunes are fine.

Have been through the various authorizations and deauthorizations so many times in so many different ways and no joy.

Extremely frustrating, you would think they would have a fix for this by now.

Dec 23, 2009 9:44 AM in response to Golden-delicious

I had the same problem and I seem to have fixed it. Not sure if it will work for you but might as well give it a try.

I nuked all the authorizations first but I'm not sure it that contributed or not. But basically on the authorization screen when your putting in your migrated email address don't add the @aol.com like they tell you too. So for example my old aol account was xxx, which when migrated to an itunes account turned into xxx@aol.com. So when I tried to play a song and the window popped up I chose use an itunes account, then for username just entered xxx and the password.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.
