I would try reinstalling Snow. If that doesn't help, then erase the drive and reinstall Snow.

If Kappy's advice fails, consider taking the Snow Leopard DVD to an Apple Store and have them check it...might be it is faulty.

I know this issue well. - It simply means that your boot drive cannot be found.

start by resetting PRAM

then reboot and reselect you your main hard drive as the startup disk in system preferences->startup disk.

I am not running a "hackintosh", I am simply researching information in an attempt to aid another. - I am well aware of any proceedures and tutorials that will and can harm either hardware or system.

The tutorial refers to how to fix this problem with terminal scripting. - Given that there is a specific section regard it.

I don't know why it works in safe mode but not in standard mode. safe mode runs disk repair first and it only loads necessary fonts and kernel extensions. possibly you have some incompatible extensions that are doing it although that appears unlikely to me. you may need to reinstall snow leopard as kappy suggested. but first i would try reblessing the hard drive. that might help with something like this.

try reblessing the drive. boot normally and run the following terminal command (copy and paste please)

sudo bless --folder /System/Library/CoreServices --bootinfo --bootefi

you'll have to enter your admin password (which you won't see). that's normal. then reboot and see what happens.

Reblessing works for me, but "--bootinfo" only applies to PPCs, so omit it:

sudo bless --folder /System/Library/CoreServices --bootefi
