HP Scanjet 7650 not found in Snow Leopard.

Hi,

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and realized that my HP Scanjet 7650 doesn't work on my Macbook. It isn't recognized in the System Preferences and in the HP Utility I just get an error saying that the Scanner could not be initialized.

However I also have a MacBook Pro that has Snow Leopard and although the HP Scanner isn't recognized in the System Preferences, I am able to scan documents using the HP Utility.

My question is how can I take the MacBook Pro's knowledge of the HP scanner and transfer it to my Macbook. Is there some .kext I need or something? A Snow Leopard driver would be nice but, I don't think HP have released it yet (or any SL driver they promised for that matter).

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Hello ylar34 & welcome to discussions...

Run the application 'Image Scanner' on both and see if the scanner is recognized the same...also try System Profiler/USB.

On the MacBook, try resetting some of the hardware involved (PRAM~NVRAM). See this Apple KB for details, etc.:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

Can't hurt to try, and apparently this has helped others recently.

Failing that, take it to an Apple Store and ask staff there for assistance.

Hello y:

Welcome to Apple discussions.

HP released a driver for your device about a month ago:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us &prodNameId=434494&prodTypeId=15179&prodSeriesId=434502&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEn vOID=4082

The information indicates it supports OS X 10.6.
