Desktop DB, Desktop DF, safe to delete these files?

Hi! I'm having problems with the Finder.
Nothing serious, it's just that I have to relaunch
the Finder to see what's on the desktop.
I was wondering if deleting these 2 invisible files
would help: Desktop DB, Desktop DF?

I remember in Classic, it was common practice to delete these
file which could get quite large and corrupted (one of the 2 at least,
I don't remember which of the 2 and why).

Is it safe in Leopard to delete these 2 files?
And all those .ds_Store files, could they cause problems also?
Can I deleted them at will?

Thanks a bunch

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

They can be deleted but they will reappear on their own as invisibles under certain circumstances. .DS_Store files are created any time you set window preferences. None will cause any problems.

If you are having problems with the Finder start by deleting /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist.
