iTunes 9.0.2 Will NOT play anything

Today I tried to play some music and when I select a song to play nothing happens. burned CD's, purchased, even on iTunes store to hear a sample of music nothing. The play icon turns to the pause icon. I've rebooted etc. but nothing seems to work. anyone else ? Thanks, jason

try creating a new user on your machine. log into that user, add a few tunes and try again.

if no problems, try if reinstalling iTunes on the main account will fix the issue

So effectively it looks like something is playing, but there's no volume? Is that what you are experiencing?

The reason I ask, is that my Mac Book Pro's audio output (where the headphones would go) tends to get tripped every once in a while. When I try to adjust volume, the volume doesn't come on. I need to flick the switch. Is there a red light coming out of your audio output?

I also have this problem and found reinstalling fixes the issue - but only temporarily 😟

Could it be plugging in my USB headphoens while iTunes is running that is the problem? It seems strange because Windows 7 generally handles audio switching MUCH better than previous versions, unless Apple hasn't yet updated iTunes to take advantage of this (which I doubt)?
