iMac i5 / i7 Quad Core *** Australian Resellers*** News & Updates.

If you're like me and the thousand other Australian consumers, waiting for the Australian Apple Resellers (Nextbyte, Maccentric, JB HiFi, DJ, Myers etc) to stock the new iMac i5 / i7, post your information here.

Supposedly the stores are getting them this week (week commencing 23rd Nov), but we've all heard the stories and gossip.

I ordered mine on the 2nd Nov (Nextbyte) and it has been a **** long wait.
If only I had purchased online....oh well.
I have to say though, Nextbyte do have the best customer service and that's why I keep going back.

Any aussies have info they want to share?

Hopefully this will be my last week waiting.......hopefully.

(Arriving soon) iMac i7

According to my reseller in Belgium (and these guys really do their best to serve their customers) it will be the first week of december, they've told me Apple had to hold back some 'new models 27"' because of technical faults...
Personally I still believe it's a shame Apple treats resellers like this, the logical thing should be that when you walk by a Apple store, one should be able to see several new 27" models... how many are displayed at your local store? how many quad cores? They should compensate their customers for this extended delivery time!

I spoke to Nextbyte (Sydney) today.
They are definitely getting the i5 Quads this week.

But unfortunately the i7's are not going to be available for another
"10 Business days".
Why don't they just say 2 weeks for goodness sakes.

It just makes me laugh, because (on the 2nd Nov) when I handed over my credit card details, I was told that the ETA was week commencing 16th Nov. (I guess people will say anything for a sale) and because it's a CTO order, no refunds or cancellations.....very sneaky indeed.
This whole experience has given me a bad taste in my mouth.

Hey guys,
I ordered my from the reseller on the release date. 23/10.

They are saying dec for my i7.

It is a shame, but i guess i got it through my local reseller because i know what its like when something goes wrong under warranty. being a business idon't have time to wait around and send stuff away. I just drop it at the door and they fix it for me straight away.

Don't think you'd get the same response if i bought it online.

I ordered my i5 from David Jones in the Melbourne CBD Store the day after they were released (20/21st Oct?). I believe I was the first to order from that store.

As of 1st Dec, I'm still waiting.

I've called/dropped in twice, only to be told they were still waiting for shipping information. The last communication I had at about mid November was "early Dec".

From info I have gathered from twitter searches etc it seems that people who have ordered directly from Apple online have received theirs within a few weeks. I know of 2 confirmed cases of people in australia who have ordered the i7 in November and have already received them.

Seems to be the price we pay for 18months interest free option 😟

The latest info I have from multiple people says that resellers won't be seeing any i7s until mid to late December and even that may slip...in the mean time ordering from Apple directly should have an i7 on your desk within 14 days usually so there is certainly preferential treatment.

If your reseller is telling you earlier time frames they are either making it up or lying..

The only reason I'm not cancelling my Myer order is that PERHAPS with the ridiculous delay for resellers Apple may just fix up all the problems that have plagued the first batches (cracked screens, screen flickering, noisy HDs etc etc)
