iMovie audio clip copyrights in youtube

Hi there!

And pardon me if this has already been answered or posted somewhere else, but since I could not find anything so far, here I am.

So here is the ticket; I just got an e-mail from YouTube telling me a video I created may have content that is owned or licensed by GoDigital Media Group. So this media group has started a dispute of some kind.

But the music audio clip in question is from Apple's own iMovie '09 (Acoustic sunrise) ... am I missing something here? Anyone?

Thanks.

The Apple audio clip is OK to use on YouTube.
I would double check to make sure there is no other audio in your movie. If there is not, you can dispute it with YouTube.

[Here is Apple's legal language|http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/ilife09.pdf] See Section 2C

Snap! We've been deluged with bizarre audio copyright claims from GoDigital Media Group for audio content. We have many videos on a number of YouTube channels and they have iMovie Jingles ONLY! we've been VERY careful. We are getting about 10 copyright claims from GoDigital a day. I dispute them, they come back again.

I'm a professional concert pianist and have a piano channel on YouTube. They have strangley claimed one of my Beethoven performances belonged to them too. It's frustrating!

We started a thread similar to yours and we got directed over to this thread, our question is here:

A sample of wife's YouTube videos made with iMovie 09 jingles with copyright claims from GoDigital on audio are here:

The message next to our videos from youtube is like this ...

You have disputed a copyright claim on your video, Thailand - Injured Elephants .

To see the details of the dispute that you filed, click here.

All content owners have reviewed your video and confirmed their claims to some or all of its content:

* Content owner: GoDigital Media Group Type: Audio content

We dispute the claim and it comes back, sometimes tow claims on the same video, again and again.

* * * * * * * * * *

Either it's a marketing trick by GoDigital to get ads placed next to things that don't belong to them at all, faulty screening software, a new wave of scare tactics to intimidate those from knowingly uploading and sharing copyrighted music online and catching those like us unintentinally.

The hardest part knowing you can't get feedback personally from GoDigital or YouTube.

Thanks for jumping in Paul. I'm wondering to what extent can anyone 'Flag' any YouTube clip as a copyright claim but from a different company. (?) One thing that might help however is adding a small notice the audio is from iMovie etc. I've done this to mine now and hope it will stop any stupid claims from reoccurring. (ie; PS. Music audio clip is from Apple's iMovie '09 (Acoustic sunrise)

Your frustration is understandable... let's hope they'll eventually stop harassing you (and many others I bet)

I'm all for copyright protection and policing can be a good thing IMO, but! not when its done in a sloppy way of checking.

Regards,

The information provided by AppleMan1958 earlier in this post was on the mark:
Here is Apple's legal language See Section 2C (Go to Appleman1958 post to get the link)
I went to the dispute page on Youtube and clicked the 3rd choice and entered the link to the Apple Legal Document and referred to item 2-C
Within an hour the ads were gone.
Thank you AppleMan1958
