What is "Connect Service (All Users)"?

Upgraded to 10.6.2, and was checking my Accounts to see what is set to open at Start-Up. There's an item called "Connect Service (All Users)", and it's in all User accounts. I'm suspecting it is either connected to an Epson NX400 scanner or a graphics package called ArcSoft that comes with the scanner/printer. Anyone know what this is? What is does? And can I blow it away?

PB Duo 250, PB Titanium, MacBook Pro, iPhone 3G, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

no, but you can see exactly where it lives by hovering the mouse over it in login items. it will show its full path. what is it?

Thanks for the suggestion! Mousing over the item gets: "You cannot change this item because Accounts preference is locked". It says it's an Application. Hmm... the only one in the Start-Up Items that way. I went to Activity Monitor and there it is, consuming 5.7 MB of RAM. The information there would indicate it's part of ArcSoft (the Windows looking graphics add-on I don't use) Software Suite. I used Activity Monitor to Quit it, have deleted it from Start-Up items, and so far the world has not blown up!

this is very strange. not a big deal but I wonder why it does this. you certainly don't need to unlock accounts preferences to change login items for your account. and hovering the mouse over something doesn't actually try to remove or add any login items.

I'm sure it wouldn't blow up 🙂 but could you humor me an log out and the log back in? does the login item returns or is it gone for good?

Logged out and back in. Gone! Good riddance. Thanks again for your suggestions.

(This was indeed a strange one, because it had apparently thrown a little shadowed rectangular box in the upper left corner of my screen (very Windows like) constantly showing me reminders of how to use the software, etc., I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it, and I hated it! And I didn't like that the Application was running but didn't show in the Dock, etc. Glad to have it gone! I won't be using ArcSoft software for anything!)
