The HP Printer Drivers Update 2.3 keeps popping up in software update automatically and I have installed it at least 10 times and each time it says it was successfully installed. This has happened on both my imac and macbook pro. Does anyone know how to fix this WITHOUT ignoring updates, as I want to know when there is a new version...?
I deleted /Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks/HPSmartX.framework then re-installed the HP package (HP
Installer_Inkjet_Full_Group0910.3.dmg) - but I still get the Software Update prompt to install HP Printer Drivers Update 2.3.
I am having the problem on a machine where I followed the instructions on the HP website to update to the 2.3 drivers
before getting the software update push. I accepted the push several times. Happens on that machine and on machines where I did not use the HP instructions.
1) If you have not already done so, install the latest HP drivers found on the HP website.
2) delete /Library/Printers/hp/Frameworks/HPSmartX.framework
3) Run Software Update - it will prompt to install HP Printer Drivers Update 2.3 - let it do this.
4) Run Software Update again -- it should no longer show that update.
Thanks Spidey. Followed your instructions and it worked like a charm. Now when I check for software updates in my MacBook Pro, The HP Printer Driver 2.3 Update no longer shows up. I do not know if this was caused by installing the latest HP drivers found on the HP website or caused by Apple's software update of HP Printer Drivers. I guess HP and Apple need to work together to prevent future issues like this.
