A small blue dot on the upper left of iphone 3g screen?

I am seeing a small blue dot in the upper left corner of my iphone screen. It blinks off and on.
it isnnt any dust particle as i cleaned it several time

Can anyone respond on it

IPhone 3G, iPhone OS 3.1.2

If you think it may be a dead pixel you should look into one of the various websites and iPhone applications for both checking and fixing dead pixels.

Thank you guys for ur replies but my question is still unanswered.
I know about the 'E' symbol turning circular and the three spots on the iphone screen. What I mean to say is that there is an extra blue spot (very small)which looks as if there is a dead pixel or something like that. it appears exactly below the Messages icon (if seen on the first page of screen). when I rub it few times it disappears for a second and it again reappears.

Any suggestions....
