If you are able to play it, try syncing it back to the phone under the ringtones tab in iTunes when the device is selected.
I am almost positive it will say "Ringtone was not transferred to iPhone because you are not authorized to play it." Follow the instructions on how to authorize the computer, and you will be able to get it to play.
