iMac G5 G1 Recall

Last December the recall for the following problem ended.

"The iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Video and Power Issues applied to first generation iMac G5 computers that had video or power-related issues as a result of a specific component failure."

I have that problem now. What was the "specific component"? And where do I get a replacement since I'm out of warranty and missed the expiration of the recall?

Thanks!

Ted,
-related issues as a result of a specific component failure

It would help to know the exact model, size and speed you have as well as the exact symptoms of the failure.
The "specific components" involved are typically electrolytic capacitors (of the "capacitor plague" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague) or failure of the GPU itself.
You'd need to identify if the logic board or the PSU had failed. A good reference is here:

If the logic board seems fine and the PSU seems the problem a hacked ATX would verify that diagnosis. Re: my earlier posts.

Hey Ted,
There were two 20" 1.8 GHz iMac G5s, 2004 and 2005. In 2005 Apple replaced the nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra w/ a ATI Radeon 9600. The Mobility version of this gave us problems in iBooks of this era.
If you Google:
"ATI Radeon 9600 problems"
You'll see the standard version also had problems.
If this is the problem, you could verify by hooking up an external monitor.
I've actually pulled a good chip from a Dell graphics board and swapped it into an iBook that had a bad 9600. That could also be possible w/ the iMac.
