Logic Pro: Plug-in “EXS24” not available!

Why do I get this message when starting up Logic 8?
Logic Pro: Plug-in “EXS24” not available!

And because of this, the file that I worked on in garageband and work fine, does not sound any longer in Logic 8.

imac G5, Mac OS X (10.5.6), 2.5 gb ram

Well, if the EXS24 has gone missing (has it? What happens when you quit, restart the Mac and try again from a new project - same result?)
First step: refresh the preferences:
0. Export your custom Key Commands (if you have any) from the Key Command window
1. Quit Logic.
2. Find the file com.apple.logic.pro.plist here: 'yourdisk'/Users/'you'/Library/Preferences/
3. Drag it to the Desktop
4. Start Logic. It'll create a fresh .plist file. Now see if your problem is gone or not. If it is, you can trash the .plist file on the desktop. If it isn't, you can quit Logic and put the old .plist file back if you want.

If that doesn't solve it, just trash your Logic application using AppCleaner http://www.pure-mac.com/diag.html#appcleaner and reinstall only the Logic application. EXS24 is "built into" the application.

regards, Erik.

I did again the removing of that file but same problem stays. And why is it saying that the GB project was created with an earlier version of Logic 8? I spent already 4 hours on this problem while having very little time to finish my project. I will have to do this in GarageBand instead... (Why do I get the feeling of the "good old Windows days" that was more about fixing problems then working on projects...?)

When you create something in the current version of Garageband (5); it has some new plugins (Guitarstuff) that were not availabele in L8. I know this message. You only get in trouble if you open a GB5 project that actually uses those plugs. The message in itself is harmless.

As to your error message: I really don't know what else to do, since the EXS24 is built into the Logic package it should be freshly there, leaving only two possibilities: something else in your system creates those messages, OR somehow your install disk is faulty... Sorry...

I don't get the message after opening a new project. How now can I get the project from GB 5 into L8? Opening the GB file into L8 is not possible without getting this error message. And GB cannot export a midi file that I could open in L8.

nope... spoke to soon. I can made a new software instrument track but the moment I select an instrument from the Orchestra Jam Pack, I get the message; Re: Logic Pro: Plug-in “EXS24” not available!
