How is Apple display better than Samsung?

I am looking at buying a Samsung 23" monitor to hook up to my MacBook pro--I would get an Apple Cinema display but they seem to cost 3 times as much--what are the main differences in quality?

The 23" Samsung most likely uses what is called a TN LCD panel. TN panels are the same kind as used in virtually all notebook computers, including Apple's. TN panels are generally very sensitive to viewing angle. If you own a Mac notebook, or a PC notebook, perhaps you have noticed that tilting the lid/display can have a big affect on the colors you see.

Apple uses a premium LCD panel in their monitors based on a technology called IPS. IPS LCD panels cost more to make, though not three times. Nevertheless, if you really care about color and do color critical work, you should consider an Apple. The Apple will be better in nearly every way, you just need to decide for yourself if it's worth the added expense.
