My computer won't recognize my iPod Touch......

To get a couple things out of the way, I have an HP G60 Notebook PC. It's a 120US if that means anything ad itt runs on Windows Vista.

I have recently, and seemingly out of the blue, been having trouble connecting my iPod Touch to my computer. It won't recognize that I have connected a device to the computer what so ever. I can however connect my iPod Shuffle and my wife's digital camera to my computer and it recognizes it fine.

Keep in mind that I have had this problem for roughly the last 5 days and have researched this issue somewhat diligently on the internet during that time. So if there is some skull slapping obvious thing that you might be thinking is the solution please give it a second thought. I have done everything from rebooting my iPod Touch, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and even uninstalling and reinstalling my spyware as a last ditch effort.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated. I am desperate.

Thanks

Windows Vista

As Ingo2711 said, Apple Mobile Device Services must be operating correctly for your touch to talk to iTunes. Both of the other devices you mention, do not use that specific driver set to communicate with your computer. If needed, use the Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and completely remove iTunes, Quicktime, and Apple Mobile Devices Services. Reboot your computer and then download and install the latest version of iTunes.

Well, my iPod Touch still isn't working. At one point it is connected and works fine, and then the next moment, it disconnects without me doing anything so much as surf the internet. I get on facebook, mmajunkie, sherdog, and maybe ign.com. So I doubt it has anything to do with the websites I visit. I have no problem buying a new iPod. But if I'm still going to have problems, it's kind of pointless. I'm literally at my wits end.

Bob-A-Lou,

Something is getting very confusing. Your initial problem was that you couldn't get your iPod recognized by iTunes. That sounds like it has been resolved.

You new problem sounds like you are having WiFi problems. I would venture to guess that your iPod is fine and your wireless network needs a bit of a tune up. The easiest thing to do is simply unplug your router for a minute or so and then restart it. Try connecting again. Let us know if that is the problem and if it is continuing.

You misread my post. My previous, and current problem is my computer won't recognize my iPod Touch at all. It's as if I never plugged anything into it. This problem seems to come and go also. At one moment my iPod will be plugged in, and synced and charging and then out of the blue I hear my computer make the sound that indicates that a device has been removed from the usb.

I don't use WiFi to access the internet from my computer. Is that still a possible solution?
