I have bought various movies and TV shows via my Apple TV. They automatically sync back to iTunes but are greyed out so I cannot view then or transfer them onto my phone. Any help would be appreciated as I am new to the Apple TV.
MacBook, IMac, Iphone 3G & Apple TV,
Mac OS X (10.5.2)
Thanks Alley_Cat.
I have authorised iTunes and I am using the same account for Apple TV and My Mac's iTunes. I have signed out and back in but they are still greyed out. They are syncing back automatically and i can see them ut cannot play them.
I wonder if they might be still transferring and hence not available.
Can you Show the greyed out movie in a Finder window by right clicking on it?
Do you have another iTunes on another computer you could copy the file too and try it there?
You might also want to try deauthorising and reauthorising iTunes to see if that helps (turn AppleTV off while you do this in case it decides to wipe synced stuff).
I can right click them within iTunes and get various options "Get Info" "Get Description" "Mark as Watched" "Mark as Unwatched" "Reset Play Count" "Skip Play Count" and "Show in Playlist" which has a few options. I have tried deauthorising my machine but nothing seems to work.
I have noticed another tread with the same subject and a few people are having the same problem. I wonder if it is a bug!
I purchased a TV Show from my Mac. It download and sync'd to Apple TV no problems, I can view on both Apple TV and Mac, so this is the way to do it for me, but what happens to the content I have bought that is on Apple TV but not on the Mac.
I am lucky I have only had Apple TV for a week but other people have probably spent a lot more than me and their content is sitting on Apple TV not backed up!
If I were you I'd contact itunes Store support and explain the problem and see if they'll re-enable the download direct to iTunes - copy the old file to somewhere first.
