Wifes' PC won't pick up my mac airport extreme

I am at my wits end. I have a PB G4 and my wife has a Dell running windows 2000 with a wifi card. The card installed just fine but is listed as inactive. It doesn't seem to find the signal. Does anyone have any advice...she is on disability and needs to use her work laptop from home.

Any help would be appreciated

It is encrypted.. Turn off the encryption first and try to see if it is connecting

I turned off the encryption on the apple extreme. The situation seems to be that her laptio recognizes the hardware (a lynksys modem) but it registers as inactive and is constantly searching for a signal. I cannot enter the program's options to manually configure it (i have the hexdecimal(?) number but still no luck.

Is your wireless base station a Linksys or an AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS)?
